The Culture of Jiroft (تمدنجيرفت in Persian), was an outstanding culture of the west-central Iran, in Sistan province of Kerman, belonging to the Bronze Age to the fourth millennium BC There are a dozen deposits which are now being excavated, among which are included Shahr-i Sokhta, Tepe Bampur, Espiedej, Shahdad, Tepe Yahya e Iblis. Algunos investigadores vinculan la región con la ciudad-estado de Marhashi, si bien no hay seguridad al respecto, como tampoco la hay en relación a su anterioridad a las culturas de Mesopotamia, como primera civilización urbana. Las excavaciones en las capas más profundas de la necrópolis de Jiroft indican que la historia de la región comienza hacia el cuarto milenio a.n.E. Sus habitantes, quizá procedentes de Asia central, vivían de la agricultura de dátiles, aunque también pudieron haber explotado metales como el cobre.
