Zhu Shixing in the middle of the third century, was the first monk relevant travelers that we have some news. Start your journey to the Territories of the West in Chang'an in 260, while living in Khotan, but leaving nothing written about his journey. Other monks travelers of his time were Sakya Shi, author of News of the West Territories (Xiyu ji), and Zhi Sengzai, who wrote a review of foreign countries (Waiguan shi). Another monk, Zhu Fawei was the author of a story called Fogu ji (Buddhist Kingdoms News). Some ancient sources tell us of other monks wandering left some account of his travels and adventures, although we have only brief mentions about them. Baoyun is the case, Zhu Zhi, and Fasheng Sengbiao. The latter seems to have been the author of Value of a tour of foreign countries (Li Waiguan). In this same time emphasizes mainly Daojin, frequent traveler and expert in Sanskrit, for which we know was sent to the Territories of the West by the emperor Wendi (Southern Song dynasty, first half of the V) in search of some sections translated by Dharmaksema Nirvânasûtra. Finally we can not stop naming Daorong (Daoyao), which we went through Shule (Kashgar) in their journey to India in 440.
