Major Gods

Atum

Native Sun God of Heliopolis. Its name means Perfection. Considered the Father of all Gods. Atum is the solar disk. His myth develops daily journey of the sun in its path across the sky.

His exit east to sunset in the West, describes the three seasons in the sun takes different forms.

1. the morning sun, which appears as Khephra
2. The midday sun, as Re
3. And the setting sun, which corresponds to Atum

When depicted in human form appears wearing the double crown of Egypt.

His associates are animals: snake, lion, bull and lizard of the desert.

Re (or Ra)

appears during the V Dynasty and replace the legend of Atum in Heliopolis, as the Father of the Gods, but his mother remains Nut.
