Is It Proper To Have Money Tree At Bridal Shower

BARBA JACOB IN HISTORICAL CONTEXT

By Eduardo Garcia Aguilar

As
almost all Latin American and European writers, Barba Jacob made his living as a journalist and journalism devoured, as shown in my collection of Mexican Writings, published in 2009 by the Fondo de Cultura Economica.

Your diarism is a modernist poet who wrote in a context where the prose was full of adjectives and ornaments and put the service of dictators or power groups. But among many of its pages, some achieve a high bill, and in newspaper articles Churubusco, where there are anthology pieces written when he was 29 years old.

At that time prevailed in Latin America, another Colombian, José María Vargas Vila, who flooded the continent with its anticlerical and radical books filled with diatribes and was the best seller, the Garcia Marquez of the time. But Vargas Vila was an incorruptible and unlike Barba Jacob was more accurate and consistent with an ideology rebel, grumpy, sulfur, anti-papist, so it was very popular at the time between radicals and became rich and famous. He was a master in the art of teasing. Today nobody reads Vargas Vila, despite a hundred books published in the best publishers.

As a journalist, Barba Jacob is a man according to his age, where the journalist is servile, must follow the orders of the power group that employs him and who is ordered strikes hit. This Mexican tradition prevailing at that time unfortunately continues to exist throughout the twentieth century during the long years of the PRI and now I think, that keeps current in the XXI century, with few exceptions.

very young left Colombia and arrived in Mexico is noted for its excellent prose and his extraordinary capacity for work in newsrooms. He was an admirer of Porfirio Díaz and long after, in Perifonemas of Ultimas Noticias, was advocating the figure reivindicaciñon the Oaxacan patriarch. Their positions earned him several times expelled the country for meddling in domestic politics. At the end returns defeated, sick and tamed and survives by the Perifonemas the Latest News and magazine articles as well. And was destroyed by tuberculosis and syphilis. With respect to Colombia was more or less faithful to the ideas of secular Liberal Party Conservative Party clerical side.

In the international field as many intellectuals in the continent, for example José Vasconcelos and Leopoldo Lugones, admired Mussolini and was seduced by Hitler and the momentum of the Fuehrer in the early 30's. But he lived the outcome of World War II. He is a man of his time. The story was in progress and it is difficult to read as events occur.

It was ahead of his time, because in that first half of the breaks had been given very important in poetry, fiction and essays throughout the continent. Octavio Paz is right in saying that Barba Jacob was a "modernist behind" and even Luis Cardoza y Aragón to define as a "bureaucrat funeral."

Barba Jacob in Colombia is crushed by a figure legend. It's a comic-opera character, drunk, gay, stoner, failed, and with it the errant Colombians were identified throughout the twentieth century, but without knowing really. In it are a reflection of his failure in the mirror.

heliotropic His poetry, convoluted, much to the taste settles Colombian "beautiful writing", a problem that almost no writer of that country escapes, exceptions and continues. And Colombians are fed and are identified by their real or invented stories, the gossip and alleged mischief of his life, such as lending money and not pay, being a great liar and deceiver small scale and have many occurrences.

Most Colombian goods or sketches are collections of anecdote, but few have tried to place it in its literary and historical context, establishing relationships with other contemporary poetic movements advanced or bridges between their ideas and those of others also fascinated with Porfirian conservatism and the cult of fascist power and phalanges.

was difficult for these men to live between the wars, when no one knew which way was to take over the world. A right, fascinated by Mussolini, Hitler and Franco and others left with Stalin or Trotsky. These are times of absolute beliefs and drives Thanatos. In that world, wrecked the poor poet Barba Jacob, a provincial roaming, a sort of Wandering Jew was sought and never found as most of his generation. And survived in the midst of so much violence .
