The Sumerian term, word, rendering a solemn decision, refers to formal and sacred words of a priest or magician, from which it developed a sense of enchantment. The ancients believed Semites a word pronounced with formalism, and containing the force of an order or promise, could materialize into something real and defined on an entity. This meant that the words of a priest in solemn circumstances generated a magical power. The term is applied to the gods (a group of about fifty) for all natural events. It is very likely to represent, at first, and from a syncretic process, the patron deities of the Sumerian cities. Subsequently revealed as the eponymous Anunna or Anunnaki. Can match, finally, the essential divinity of Heaven, whose distinguishing character was based on generating capacity and creative.
